Saddling with Ursula @ Westernriding in Wells Gray Park

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA DSC00794 Western Riding is native to North America. It is a gentle way of riding a horse. This riding style derives from the Cowboy Culture, from the Ranch work done by horseback. The western saddles are meant to be comfortable – cowboys rode and still ride in them all day long. The horses wear bridals but the reines are being held loosely in between aids. The horse’s mouth is pressured as little as possible. Today horse psychology has come into play with almost all western horse training methods. We try to make sure that all our horses trust us so we can trust them.
